Visiting and second-home owners in Hood River
Some Hood River homes are used only part of the year. The Census counts "seasonal, recreational or occasional-use" homes separately from year-round homes. In the 2020-2024 estimates, about 153 of the city's 4,147 housing units fall in that group, or roughly 3.7%. That is a small share, and the margin of error is large: the count could be anywhere from a few dozen to a few hundred units. In The Dalles the same estimate is about 0.7%. Most Hood River homes are lived in year-round, although the city also has many renter households.
